Situation: The property management company of this towering 62-story structure with an impressive 20,000 panes of glass, was concerned about the safety of the tenants and neighbors in the case of a window breaking. They knew, a window breaking due to a storm or natural disaster and consequently falling hundreds of feet could prove deadly for anyone in the proximity. They were also looking for a retrofit solution that was less cost-prohibitive than reglazing.
Solution: A 4-millimeter Llumar clear protective window film was recommended to solve the problem and 26 installers were sent out to take on the massive project. Over 55,000 square meters of LLumar protective window film was installed. The film was done at a fraction of the cost of reglazing, saving the property management company thousands of dollars.
Result: The management company reports the glass holds in place, even in the event of a break. They also report being impressed by the film blocking more than 99% of damaging ultraviolet rays and helping to keep the interior rugs and furnishings from fading. Most importantly, they achieved superior results at a fraction of the cost of reglazing.
