Will Window Film Darken The Windows Of My Colorado Springs Home?

Will Window Film Darken The Windows Of My Colorado Springs Home?

We get a lot of questions about window tinting here at Colorado Springs Window film and one of the most common ones is–whether or not window film will darken a home’s windows. We understand why this question is so pressing–nobody wants to trade too much annoying glare for a dark and dreary home. The truth is window film does not darken windows significantly if at all and we put together a few talking points as to why this is so to help you better understand why.

So let’s take a look at how window film works.

How Does Today’s Modern Window Film Work?

Window film does not work as a “permanent shade” on your windows like some people think. Accordingly, it does not darken or block out the rays of the sun. Very early models of window films did work a bit like that but today’s window films could not be more different. Today’s evolved window film now works on a much more minuscule scale–down to the molecule in some cases. Made from ceramics and even metals, today’s window films works in large part by absorbing the harmful rays of the sun and/or reflecting them, while still allowing natural light into your home. Since the sun rays are made up of many different types of rays, only one which is visible to us, window film easily blocks the harmful rays like UV, UVA and UVB rays without subduing visible light.

As you can see, window film is completely effective and does nothing to impede the bright light you want to brighten your home. Read on to find out more about what your windows will look like after film is applied.

Window Film For A Clear, Unobstructed View

These cutting-edge films allow natural light aplenty into your home, while still giving you all the benefits that window film is known for: lowering utility bills, trapping hot an cold air and reducing glare notwithstanding. These films range from almost invisible to intentionally dark but ultimately the glass on your Colorado Springs home will appear clear unless you choose a dark film for a specific reason. In fact, will even, in many cases, give your home a brighter appearance and enhance the view outside your window.

What About Reflective Films? Will They Make My Colorado Springs Home Dark?

The way reflective window film look admittedly changes throughout the day depending on the time of day and the light conditions. However, reflective film doesn’t darken or shade rooms either. There are even reflective films that redirect light further into your home, brightening areas of your home that need it and reducing the need for lighting. However, unless you choose a darkly tinted reflective film, your Colorado Springs home windows will look almost exactly the same inside or out.
